In case you\u2019re not a big television person, The Closer<\/em> is the hit (it\u2019s cable\u2019s #1 drama series) TNT police show starring Kyra Sedgwick as Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson. The new season premieres next Monday (July 14th), but last night, a group of people (including myself!) were able to see the first show of the season. It was extremely well done.<\/p>\n

In any event, I see why this is a number one show. It has a wonderful, multicultural cast and excellent writing. In this episode, there was a surprising (yet believable) twist and ending. Many times, \u201cwhodunit\u201d detective shows are usually easy to figure out beforehand (in my opinion). However, in this episode, I never saw THAT piece of the puzzle coming!<\/p>\n

Most of all, I like Kyra Sedgwick\u2019s character. Part of the reason is because here character is a strong, powerful woman who still manages to be in great shape and stylishly dressed. The other part is that I like (what I know of) Kyra Sedgwick. In the July issue of O, The Oprah Magazine\u2019s <\/em>Kyra Sedgwick shares about her environmental involvement in the \u201cAHA! Moment \u201cwhich you can also read online here. As a mom, my favorite quote from Kyra\u2019s piece was \u201cMark my words\u201d It\u2019s the soccer moms who will change the world.\u201d (I\u2019m not so quite sure about the \u201csoccer\u201d part, but I totally believe that moms change the world every day.)<\/p>\n

(SPOILER ALERT) The only thing that I didn\u2019t like (and this is just because images stick in my mind for a LONG time) was the graphic images. The storyline is about an arson case, so charred, burnt bodies and body parts are shown AND there is a scene where a living character puts on some dead person\u2019s skin to get a fingerprint (yuck!). I went home and told my husband, \u201cYou\u2019ll love this show\u201d. (Unlike me, he loves detective shows.) If your taste is like my husband\u2019s, you\u2019ll love this show also.<\/p>\n
