On Saturday after my \u201cManicure and Movie\u201d treat, I mentioned to my friend Susan that I needed some new bras. Since we were in midtown Manhattan, I was thinking the Gap, Victoria\u2019s Secret or Macy\u2019s. Susan suggested Macy\u2019s <\/a>(6th Floor) for reasonably priced, good quality bras. I\u2019m glad that I followed her advice.<\/p>\n

Bra shopping has been very challenging for me in the past. When I was married, I was a 32 D (yay! for my husband; not so yay! for friends who were trying to buy me lingerie for my \u201cgirlie shower\u201d). After losing the weight from my first son, I was a 34 DD. I was eager to see what size I was now that I\u2019ve pretty much lost the weight from my second son. (My bra shopping method has been to kind of take one of each size\/cup around my range and see which fits best.) For some reason, I thought that I was probably a 34D. Thank God for bra fitters! The ones (well, one in particular) at Macy\u2019s were great (not especially discreet, but nice and accurate). The lady looked at me and said, \u201cYou\u2019re not a D, you\u2019re a double D.\u201d Then, she had her assistant measure me. (I was doing that SO wrong at home beforehand \u2013 I was measuring underneath instead of around on top!) Anyway, it turns out that I am back to a 34DD.<\/p>\n

Next step, find the bra. I went to the register and asked for some recommendations in my size. Once again, this is not a popular size. The lady looked clueless. So, I went back to the fitting lady. She was so kind and helped me to find some nice, moderately-priced ($30ish), supportive bras (Vanity Fair brand \u2013 Now that I know, I can also buy them online here). <\/p>\n

In any event, if you\u2019re clueless at bra-shopping like me, leave the fitting and referrals to the \u201cexperts\u201d. My suggestion: Macy\u2019s Herald Square, Floor 6.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
