Juneteenth is June 19th. It is one of the oldest celebrations commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. It is the anniversary of the day in 1865 when Union soldiers finally brought the news to Galveston, Texas that the war was over and that the enslaved people in Texas were emancipated. <\/p>\n\n\n
