<\/p>When I first started blogging many years ago, I would participate in a \u201cWhat\u2019s On Your Nightstand\u201d link-up with other blogging friends. Basically, we would share what we were currently reading. Since I\u2019m going through a podcast\/audiobook moment, I\u2019m currently listening more than reading.\n

\"Cameron<\/p>\n

For 2018, I plan on listening to one main person a quarter (business-wise) so that I can really understand their thought process. The way that I do that is by listening to every podcast interview that the person has done and then listening (or possibly reading) their actual books. For the first quarter of 2018, Cameron Herold is in my ear. His name just happened to come up several times on various podcasts that I listened to at the end of 2017 and I want to learn from him.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve listened to about 20 podcasts that he has been featured on and I have around 20 more to go. At this halfway point, I can anticipate his answers to the interviewers\u2019 questions so I think that I \u201cget\u201d where he is coming from. Cameron Herold<\/a> is a business mentor and coach who helps companies grow. I am not interested in growing a big business at all, so it might seem weird that I would want to learn from him. Not at all.\u00a0<\/strong>The reason that I love business books and podcasts so much is that I can take the principles and relate them to the things in life that are most important to me. I want to be the best mentor for my kids and the women whom I mentor spiritually. For me, every area of life is about growth. I agree with\u00a0Lou Holtz:<\/p>\n

In this world, you\u2019re either growing or you\u2019re dying\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As with anyone, there are things that I agree with Cameron Herold about and there are things that I don\u2019t. Because he is talking about things strictly from a business view, we have different lenses about what is most important. Also, helping people grow is different when they are family members and volunteers versus being employees. (There\u2019s a lot more grace involved!) Overall though, I really<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0like the way that Cameron thinks business-wise and I especially appreciate the following 5 facts:<\/p>\n

  1. He speaks from experience instead of theory.<\/li>\n
  2. He acknowledges his own personal limitations. I value vulnerability and authenticity. No one is great at everything!<\/li>\n
  3. He stresses that results and progress are more important than perfection. I especially respect the way that he talks about this in relation to the educational system.<\/li>\n
  4. He talks about the importance of building \u201cmargin\u201d in your life. (I call that \u201cwiggle room\u201d.)<\/li>\n
  5. Last, but definitely not least, I love his concept of having a vivid vision<\/strong>. This is a principle that I think every mom can imitate. You may not be the CEO of a company, but moms tend to be the vision-keepers for their families. It\u2019s a great exercise to form a clear, detailed picture of what you want your family\/ministry\/business\/(fill in the blank) to look like three years from now.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Once I finish listening to the podcasts, I\u2019m going to read the book that he co-authored and recommended in a podcast interview,\u00a0The Miracle Morning for Entrepreneurs: Elevate Your SELF to Elevate Your BUSINESS<\/em><\/a>. I\u2019ll keep you posted.<\/p>\n
