New York City is one of greatest cities in the world. Since I love food, I especially appreciate all of the amazing places to eat here and that there are award-winning restaurants sprinkled throughout the five boroughs. This city is even known for a \u201cstyle\u201d of pizza (New York-style). Did you know that 150 pizzas are eaten in NYC every minute? That is what I learned when I partnered up with Netflights.com<\/em> to promote their What Happens in a New York Minute<\/em> piece. After asking my Facebook friends to share their favorite pizza in NYC, I also realized that I have several new pizza spots to visit!<\/p>\n

One thing that I love about New Yorkers is that we are an opinionated bunch. When it comes to pizza, most of us have strong thoughts about the best spots. I was able to compile over 50 responses in a brief period of time. Below is the breakdown of top New York City pizza places (according to a sampling of my Facebook friends)\u2026.<\/p>\n

The Top 3 New York City Pizza Places<\/h2>\n

#1. Grimaldi\u2019s: <\/strong>The Zagat guide isn\u2019t the only one to give them the \u201cbest pizza in New York\u201d label. Their coal brick-oven pizzas are legendary for a reason. Grimaldi\u2019s received almost twice as many more votes from my friends than the #2 spot.<\/p>\n

\nI literally can\u2019t even put it into words.<\/em>
\nIt was the best pizza I\u2019ve ever had in my life.<\/em>
\nI think the one in Brooklyn is better than the one in the city but both are so yummy. Fresh, light, crispy crust but cheesy goodness. Not too salty. Mmmm.<\/em>
\nBest pizza anywhere hands down.<\/em>
\nLove the fresh mozzarella!<\/em><\/p>\n

#2. Lombardi\u2019s:<\/strong> America\u2019s first pizzeria (founded in 1905) took the second spot on the list. Located in Little Italy, the landmark restaurant definitely has its loyal fans.<\/p>\n

\nLove.<\/em>
\nGreat.<\/em>
\n Lombardi\u2019s. It\u2019s the very first pizza restaurant in America and still have the same recipe. So worth the money!!!!<\/em>
\nBest pizza in New York City.<\/em><\/p>\n

#3. Patsy\u2019s Pizzeria:\u00a0<\/strong>The pizza dynasty (4 generations of pizza makers) continues to come to\u00a0mind when New Yorkers think of traditional New York style thin crust pizza. I have actually eaten at one of their locations before and agree that it is a top place to enjoy an old-fashioned pizza pie.<\/p>\n

I love (74th Street\/The Upper West Side) Patsy\u2019s.<\/em>
\n*Patsy\u2019s Pizzeria (118th and First Avenue in East Harlem) is like old little Italy with their brick oven pizza.\u00a0<\/em>
\nCan\u2019t forget Patsy\u2019s.<\/em><\/p>\n

*Note that the original Harlem location (http:\/\/www.thepatsyspizza.com\/) is not a part of the larger chain of Patsy\u2019s restaurants. Both have their fans.<\/p>\n

New York City Pizza Places (#4 \u2013 #8)<\/h2>\n

These five picks all received multiple votes.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

#4.\u00a0Carmine\u2019s Italian Restaurant<\/strong><\/p>\n

#5.\u00a0Custom Fuel Pizza: <\/strong>\u201cYou can custom make your pizza. You can choose your dough from whole grain, wheat or just regular. It\u2019s a rectangular, thin crispy pizza big enough for sharing or eating all of it on your own. You can also add\u00a0any toppings you want\u2026all for the same price.\u201d \u201cIt was actually quite good. I enjoyed it.\u201d<\/em>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

#6.\u00a0Di Fara Pizza:<\/strong> \u201cI grew up there (in the neighborhood) before the pizza was $5 a slice. But no one makes pizza like them \u2013 terrific. I love it but truly \u2013 it was $0.25 a slice when I was a kid and he was younger too! I spent $0.50 on 2 slices for lunch in elementary school.\u201d \u201cFriends suggested to me that Di Fara didn\u2019t live up to the hype but I thought it did.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

#7.\u00a0L&B Spumoni:<\/strong> \u201cTheir square pie is unlike anything I have ever tasted. The sauce is on top and there\u2019s an ongoing debate as to whether there\u2019s any cheese under the sauce (we think not) \u2013 it\u2019s perfection! We get trays of it to bring home as it\u2019s even better the second day (if it lasts that long!) \u2013 www.Partybluprintsblog.com<\/a>\u201d \u201cI\u00a0think it\u2019s the best in all of New York.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

#8.\u00a0Sam\u2019s Famous Pizza:<\/strong> \u201cPizza shop on 116th & Lexington Avenue.\u201d \u201cIt reminds me of carefree childhood days.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

New York City Pizza Places (#9)<\/h2>\n

These pizza spots each received a single vote, so I\u2019m grouping them all together as #9. (I still want to visit a few of them!)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

#9. Etcetera<\/strong>
\n-Brunnetti Pizza (Manhattan)
\n-Calabria (Brooklyn \u2013 Crown Heights) \u201cExotic flavor combos and you pay by the weight of the slice. Cool atmosphere.\u201d
\n-Caterina Pizza (Brooklyn \u2013 Cypress Hills) \u201cIt\u2019s had the same owner for over 30 years. He\u2019s one of those old school Italian guys who believes in quality. I think he\u2019s a big reason that the pizza taste so good. I love the sauce and cheese. Shout out to the owner Mr. Vito. You rock.\u201d
\n-Cotte Bene (Brooklyn)
\n-Dreamers (Manhattan, on 102 & Third Avenue) \u201cMy new favorite. Thin slice, crunchy, and excellent cheese to sauce ratio\u201d
\n-Enoteca on Court (Brooklyn) \u201cThin crust pizza baked in a wood burning oven. It\u2019s on the tour circuit for tourists\u2026\u201d
\n-Gloria Pizza (Queens \u2013 Forest Hills) \u201cIt\u2019s whole wheat crust so I get all the yum of the pizza without the high sugar and salt and fat content.\u201d
\n-Gotham Pizza (Manhattan \u2013 Upper East Side) \u201cBest neighborhood slice. The crust is on the thinner side (not too doughy), and always perfectly crisp (never soggy) and they leave an extra dusting of cornmeal on the bottom so it has a unique taste and texture.\u201d
\n-Gruppo Thin Crust Pizza (Manhattan) \u201cYou can\u2019t beat it.\u201d
\n-Joe\u2019s in the Village (Manhattan)
\n-John\u2019s Pizzeria (Manhattan \u2013 Times Square)
\n-Koronet (Manhattan \u2013 Upper Upper West Side)
\n-Louie & Ernie\u2019s (Bronx)
\n-New Park Pizza (Queens \u2013 Howard Beach) \u201cNew Park Pizza !!! Brick oven pizza in Howard Beach.\u201d (It turns out that my friend isn\u2019t the only fan. Many people rave about this spot online.
\n<\/strong><\/em>-Numero 28 (Manhattan \u2013 The Village)
\n-Sal (Manhattan \u2013 Upper West Side)
\n-Salvos Pizzeria (Manhattan) \u201cOn York and 77th on the Upper East Side. Great Marinara slice and more.\u201d
\n-Smiling Pizzeria (Brooklyn) \u201cOn 7th Ave and 9th Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Best spinach, best broccoli and best salad pizza!\u201d
\n-Totonno\u2019s (Brooklyn) \u201cThe Lombardi family (of #2 Lombardi\u2019s) and Totonno family used to be partners. Both are equally good.\u201d
\n-Yankee\u2019s Pizza (Bronx)<\/p>\n

Whew! That\u2019s a lot of pizza. I think that practically anyone should be able to find a great slice from at least one of these pizza places. Definitely let me know if I missed your favorite place to eat pizza in NYC.<\/strong><\/p>\n
