Personally, my favorite recipes with traditional Irish roots are corned beef and cabbage. As an added bonus, you don\u2019t need the \u201cluck of the Irish\u201d in order to prepare these dishes because both are simple to prepare. Enjoy!<\/p>\n<h2>How to Make Corned Beef and Cabbage<\/h2>\n<h3>Slow Cooker Corned Beef Recipe<\/h3>\n<div class=\"print-this-button-shell\">\n<button type=\"button\" class=\"print-this-button\" onClick=\"parent.location='https:\/\/mominthecity.com\/how-to-make-corned-beef-and-cabbage\/?printthis=1&printsect=1'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Print This!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/button>\n<\/div>\n<!-- Print This Section 1 Start -->\n<div class=\"print-this-content\"><br><strong>\u201cNot Too Salty\u201d Crock Pot Corned Beef<\/strong>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients:<br><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4-6 lbs corned beef brisket<\/li>\n<li>.75 oz pickling spice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Directions:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Remove the brined corned beef from its package. Rinse it and place it into the crock pot with enough water to cover it. Place the lid on the crock pot.<\/li>\n<li>Cook the corned beef on \u201chigh\u201d until it comes to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, lower the setting to \u201clow\u201d and let the corned beef simmer on \u201clow\u201d for 1 and \u00bd hour.<\/li>\n<li>Near the 1 and \u00bd hour mark, boil another pot of water on the stovetop (with enough water to cover the corned beef).<\/li>\n<li>At the 1 and \u00bd hour mark, remove the corned beef from the slow cooker and dump the water used for the original simmering.<\/li>\n<li>Place the corned beef back into the crock pot and place enough of the fresh boiling water (from the pot on the stove) to cover it. Then, add the pickling spice before placing the lid on the crock pot. Let the corned beef simmer on \u201clow\u201d for an additional 1 and \u00bd to 2 hours (depending on how tender you prefer your meat).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Recipe Notes:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>-As an option for the second simmering (Step 5), you can add two bottles of dark beer (i.e. Guinness beer in honor of St. Patrick\u2019s Day).<\/p>\n<p>-You can use this exact same recipe for the stovetop. Just substitute a large pot for the slow cooker and substitute the stove\u2019s flame (high\/low) for the slow cooker instructions!<br><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div>\n<!-- Print This Section 1 End -->\n\n<\/p><h3>Easy Cabbage Recipe<\/h3>\n<div class=\"print-this-button-shell\">\n<button type=\"button\" class=\"print-this-button\" onClick=\"parent.location='https:\/\/mominthecity.com\/how-to-make-corned-beef-and-cabbage\/?printthis=1&printsect=2'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Print This!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/button>\n<\/div>\n<!-- Print This Section 2 Start -->\n<div class=\"print-this-content\">\n<p><strong>Easy Cabbage Recipe<br><\/strong><em>Yields: 4 servings<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 tbsp butter (or olive oil)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd head of cabbage, chopped<\/li>\n<li>Salt and pepper, to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Directions:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Prepare the cabbage: Rinse it off. Remove any wilted outer leaves. Cut the cabbage in half and remove the core. (See <em><strong>Picture 1<\/strong><\/em>.)<\/li>\n<li>Slice the cabbage and cut it into square chunks. (See <em><strong>Picture 2<\/strong><\/em>.)<\/li>\n<li>Melt the butter (or heat the olive oil) in a large pan that has a cover. Add the cabbage and sprinkle it with salt and pepper. Using a spatula, turn the cabbage over so that both sides get a small coating of butter (or olive oil). Cover the cabbage.<\/li>\n<li>Cook the covered cabbage on a medium-low heat until the cabbage is tender.
