My week-end started out with a bang and ended on a sweet note.<\/p>\n
Friday started off uneventful.\u00a0 It was laundry day and it was wet and dreary outside.\u00a0 THEN, the Fed-ex guy came.\u00a0 The day became like a mini-Christmas.\u00a0 My package contained a Wii unit with the sports bundle along with two games and a Nintendo DS Lite along with three games!\u00a0 My four year old was so exited.\u00a0 He kept saying, \"It\u2019s like Christmas.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s going to snow later today.\"\u00a0 (One of the Wii games, Mario Party 8, has already become my husband and son\u2019s new addiction \u2013 those two are such competitive gamers!)<\/p>\n
Saturday was fun too.\u00a0 My husband\u2019s family (his parents, his brother\u2019s family, his aunt and friend) came over for a pre-Mother\u2019s Day dinner\/gift exchange.\u00a0 I\u2019m very fortunate in that I really like my mother-in-law, so it was a good time.\u00a0 This was the first time that my father-in-law had played the Wii (we\u2019ve had our own unit since last year).\u00a0 He chose to play baseball with Michael (my four years old).\u00a0 Michael wins (of course) and tires him out in the process.\u00a0 He then proceeds to beat his uncle in boxing.\u00a0 (See, it\u2019s not just me \u2013 he is really good!)\u00a0 Then, to teach him some humility, my husband beats Michael in tennis.\u00a0 Michael\u2019s grandfather was like, \"That\u2019s right. He (Michael) needs to learn that he can\u2019t win everything.\u00a0 I was just laughing, because Michael had tired out his granddad and uncle.<\/p>\n
Sunday was nice and uneventful.\u00a0 I received some really sweet gifts and cards from friends.\u00a0 I received cards and \"the day off\" from my husband and sons. It was exactly what I asked for and exactly what I (thought) I wanted.\u00a0 At the end of the night though, I asked my husband, \"Really, you didn\u2019t get me a gift?\" (Now, note that I told him several times that I didn\u2019t want a physical gift because he was paying to get my blog redesigned.)\u00a0 He said, \"Kim, I guess you learned a lesson today.\u00a0 You talked yourself out of a gift.\"\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t do anything but laugh.\u00a0 He was right.\u00a0 For the record, the next time I WANT A GIFT!\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Then, I thought about it.\u00a0 My Mother\u2019 Day was great.\u00a0 I have great, healthy kids and a loving husband who made sure that I didn\u2019t have to: cook a meal; dress a kid; change a diaper; wash a dish or anything else that I didn\u2019t want to do that day AND I got to take a nap in the middle of the day \u2013 how great is that?!\u00a0 So, all in all, this ended up being one of the best days ever.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
