I only have one \u201cFriday Favorite\u201d this week\u2026HOPE.<\/p>\n

I was feeling down emotionally about what has been going on in the news and in our country.\u00a0I don\u2019t watch the news. (Visuals stick in my mind forever.) Unfortunately, reading it was more than enough this week. The \u201cin your face\u201d nature of social media is both a blessing and a curse so I needed to unplug in order to recompose myself yesterday. Fortunately, I had plans to go see Broadway in Bryant Park \u2013 one of the things listed in the\u00a015 Best Free Concerts in NYC in the Summer<\/a>\u00a0post.<\/p>\n

It was great to get away for a bit and enjoy one of my favorite things (Broadway shows) outside in the park. The cast of STOMP<\/em>, which I saw several years ago when Savion Glover was in it, performed several pieces. Then, songs from two musicals that I have not seen yet, Wicked The Musical<\/em> and Matilda The Musical<\/em>, were performed. Some of the cast of The Color Purple<\/em> performed a few songs to end the showcase. I saw The Color Purple<\/em> on Broadway many year ago but the last song, \u201cThe Color Purple,\u201d still brought tears to my eyes because of it\u2019s message of hope:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd when I finally looked inside, I found it,<\/strong><\/em>
\nJust as close as my breath is to me.<\/strong><\/em>
\nRising . . . . . . . . .<\/strong><\/em>
\nLike the sun<\/strong><\/em>
\nIs the hope that sets us free\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>

<\/center>Hope (plus ACTION) is so powerful. \u201cThe Color Purple\u201d song was just what I needed to hear. Later that night as my family prayed together, I was once again reminded to be hopeful as my youngest son Sean prayed, \u201cAnd please help us to focus on the good, not the bad\u2026and to remember that you (God) are still in control.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> From the mouth of kids\u2026\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
