<\/p>\u201cMy\u201d month has started off beautifully (and I say \u201cmy\u201d because I get double celebrations \u2013 Mother\u2019s Day and my 35th birthday).\n

Last night, I had the opportunity to help make (and of course eat!) one\u00a0of the best meals of\u00a0my life (and I\u2019m not exaggerating)\u2026<\/p>\n

Beth (from Role Mommy and BeyondPr) invited me and\u00a0several\u00a0other ladies to a special dinner\/demonstration down at Select Italy\u2019s Soho Loft\u00a0which was hosted by Kim Orlando\u00a0AKA Traveling Mom.\u00a0 It was an amazing experience primarily because there was so much passion in the room.\u00a0 I love being around passionate people (and I don\u2019t mean those annoying, overly obvious public displays of affection type people\u00a0passion \u2013 get a room!).\u00a0 Anyway, I digress.\u00a0 I\u2019m talking about the type of passion where you\u2019re enthusiastic about your life and how you live it.<\/p>\n

Some of the people that I had the pleasure of meeting, cooking and eating with were the following:<\/p>\n

-Beth Feldman: I really like Beth.\u00a0 I\u2019ve liked her since I went to my first Role Mommy event a few years ago.\u00a0 She\u2019s just one of those warm, friendly moms who are so calm even though\u00a0you know that they have a very full life.\u00a0 Besides being a wife and mom, she is a co-founder of Role Mommy and recently she started her own business, BeyondPR<\/a> \u2013 an entertainment public relations and talent consulting company.\u00a0 (Did I mention that she cooked two turkeys and a chicken for Passover?!)<\/p>\n

-Kim Orlando: I\u2019ve never met anyone as passionate about family travel as Kim!\u00a0 She made me want to get on a plane and go somewhere.\u00a0 (Which is no small feat \u2013 as I tell my husband, \u201cI like to get away with the kids, I just don\u2019t like to travel with them\u201d \u2014 in other words, if teleportation was a reality, we\u2019d be traveling all over the world!)\u00a0 I really hope that her vision for her TravelingMom.com<\/a> site becomes a reality (we came up with \u201ca tripadvisor for families\u201d being a good goal).\u00a0 In any event, if you\u2019re a mom who likes to travel, I definitely recommend visiting her site and become a part of that community.<\/p>\n

-Andrea Sertoli: One of the few men at the event, he is the President of Select Italy<\/a>.\u00a0 Select Italy specializes in travel and vacation tours (including family-friendly ones!) to Italy.\u00a0 Andrea\u2019s excitement about his native country (he was born in Rome) is so obvious that it\u2019s no surprise that he\u00a0has been on Travel + Leisure\u2019s \u201cA-List\u201d of top travel agents for six years in a row!\u00a0 (On a side note, a group of my single friends are currently on a European trip.\u00a0 One emailed me today to say that they loved Italy.\u00a0 I think that it\u2019s a sign that I need to visit Italy!)<\/p>\n

In addition to Italian travel, Select Italy also offers\u00a0cooking show\u00a0classes down in Soho (like the one I attended).\u00a0 They are so much fun!\u00a0 We were able to help prepare some of the food as well as eat it.\u00a0 There\u2019s something really bonding about cooking together.\u00a0 I had a great time with (mostly) people I had met before and I kept thinking, \u201cthis would be such a great thing to do with a bunch of friends\u2026).\u00a0 It\u2019s not cheap (it\u2019s $130\/person), but the experience is definitely worth saving up for.\u00a0 At the end, you get a copy of the recipes in case you want to recreate them at home.\u00a0\u00a0(I think that it\u2019s okay for me to share the recipes, so let me know if you\u2019d like the recipe(s) for the following: Insalatina con quaglia su cestino di Grana Padano (mixed baby green salad with roasted quail in a Grana Padano cheese basket); Gnudi con salsa di formaggio (home made \u201cGnudi\u201d pasta with\u00a0cheese sauce); Pesce al Cartoccio (baked fish with eggplants and tomatoes) and Mousse ai Baci Perugina (Chocolate baci perugina mousse).<\/p>\n

In any event, Select Italy has\u00a0a class\u00a0on September 4th that I want to go to.\u00a0 Mom in the City members, let me know if you\u2019d like to come too \u2013 it will be a blast! The show runs from 6:00pm to 9:00pm (but\u00a0my group got so \u201ccaught up\u201d that we\u00a0didn\u2019t leave until around 10). They also do catering and private cooking events if you\u2019re interested.<\/p>\n

On another note, the chefs, Andrea Tiberi and Francescho Pellecchia of Eatalian Style were excellent!\u00a0 They were funny, skillful (and adorable!).\u00a0 Once I heard that Andrea, the head chef, had cooked for the Pope and the President of Italy, I knew that the meal would be wonderful (and I was right!).<\/p>\n
