As I wrote in the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mominthecity.com\/my-personal-quarterly-offsite-hotels-by-day-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My Personal Quarterly Offsite<\/a><\/em> post, one of the main three things that I\u2019ll be focusing on for the rest of the year is my nutrition and exercise. I\u2019ll admit that I\u2019m a bit loose in the summer when I\u2019m hanging out with my \u201cguys\u201d. I\u2019m hopeful that the structure that the school year brings will be helpful in regards to helping me meet my fitness goals. Based on all of my research, there are 5 main components to physical fitness:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><strong>Sleep<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Peace (<span class=\"st\">According to some research, the increase in the hormone cortisol from stress, may contribute to weight gain.)<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Hydration<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Nutrition<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Exercise<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I tend to be good at excelling at 3 out of the 5 at any given time, but I\u2019m aiming for all 5! Sleep, peace and hydration are the ones that I have been naturally consistent with this summer so I need to grow in the areas of exercise and nutrition. I\u2019m trying to really embrace the reality that at 42, it\u2019s going to take consistent effort in all five areas. Le sigh\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, exercise isn\u2019t usually a challenge for me during the school year when I have a consistent daily routine. My main challenge with exercise is that I get bored very easily. The way that I learned to combat that last year was by learning a workout routine and then listening to a podcast while I exercised to the muted exercise DVD. My public relations friend Alyson sent me a media copy of Shaun T\u2019s CIZE workout video yesterday though. It\u2019s so much fun that I think it will keep my interest for the rest of the year (6 weeks for the beginner calendar and 12 weeks for 3 rounds of the 4 week advanced calendar).<\/p>\n<p>This is my second day of doing the first \u201cCrazy 8s\u201d video. It\u2019s a fun workout that builds to a short dance set to popular music.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><center><\/center>I\u2019m fine with being \u201cbackup dancer\u201d (the lowest!) level as long as I am able to learn the basic moves and get a good workout. Being a dancer or exercise instructor isn\u2019t on my \u201clife list\u201d\u2026at least not right now. Keep testing the various possibilities out until you find something that works for you. Some of my friends love exercising at gyms while others enjoy outdoor runs. I have tried and enjoyed both types of exercise at various stages in my life.
