The fire that Reggie and the kids made on the last day<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reggie and Michael were so pleased when David taught them how to start a fire. First, they gathered the items for the fire.\u00a0 Bark from white birch trees were the fire \u201cstarters\u201d, because it is so flammable.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, they gathered small and larger pine tree branches to maintain the fire.\u00a0 For some (odd) reason, I thought that they were going to rub everything together and \u201cvoila\u201d fire would appear.\u00a0 Rather, they used a match to start the fire. The bark and branches kept it going and set the area where the fire should burn! Oh well, this is what they did\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My kids\u2019 commentary crack me up during this video:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMommy and Daddy aren\u2019t doing anything!\u201d \u2013 Sean<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to be able to keep these (matches).\u201d\u00a0 \u2013 Michael<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving on\u2026you can\u2019t learn how to start a fire without making one of the most popular campfire treats\u2026smores\/ s\u2019mores. (We stuck with the basic smores recipe that I remember from camping when I was a kid. Everything just tastes better when it\u2019s cooked over an open fire!)<\/p>\n\n\n
