LeapFrog Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set: Appropriate for ages 12 months to 3 years, this award-winning toy has been popular with both of my sons.\u00a0 (I also see it in the homes of several of their friends.)\u00a0 This is a great, fun way for kids to\u00a0both practice matching skills and be creative with mix-matches.\u00a0 The matches include animal names, sounds,\u00a0facts and songs.\u00a0 This is an all-around great toy.\u00a0

Fisher-Price Little Superstar\u2122 Classical Stacker\u2122: Recommended for ages 6 months\u00a0and up, this has been a popular toy with both of my sons and many of their playmates (including their group classes).\u00a0 There are\u00a0four sparkly stars that light up while the\u00a0music plays.\u00a0 It helps the kids gain a variety of skills and it gives us parents a visual of their growth.\u00a0 (It\u2019s cute to see how they go from banging the stars together and putting them in their mouths to actually figuring out how to stack them, spin them, etc.)<\/span><\/span>

4. Discovery Toys Measure Up! Cups: Appropriate from 12 months to\u00a0primary school, these cups are a great learning tool.\u00a0 (In my quest to\u00a0figure out my \u201cafter-corporate\u201d life, I sold Discovery Toys for about 30 minutes \u2013 until I\u00a0realized that I HATE selling.\u00a0\u00a0My kids got some great toys out of the experience though.\u00a0 This is one of the best.)\u00a0 Kids fill, dump, stack and much more with these colorful cups.\u00a0 One especially neat thing about the cups\u00a0is that they\u00a0are \u201cvolumetrically correct\u201d\u00a0 (i.e. the contents of cups 3 and 4 really do fill cup 7).\u00a0

Musical Instruments by\u00a0The Sarut Group<\/a>:\u00a0 For children ages 10 months and up, their instruments are super cute.\u00a0 Most young kids like to shake, bang and hit things, so\u00a0their maracas\u00a0(which are coated with lead-free paints) and\u00a0tambourines are perfect.\u00a0 (If they sold drums, my instrument-shopping for my baby, Sean, would be completed!)

6. Baby Genius \u2013 DVD \u2013 Favorite Nursery Rhymes:\u00a0 For ages newborn to 36 months, this dvd receives great reviews from a wide variety of moms.\u00a0 I\u2019m not normally a huge fan of tv for babies, but there are exceptions to every rule.\u00a0 This is one of those exceptions.\u00a0 The animation and live action combine with classic nursery rhymes like Old McDonald,<\/span><\/em> <\/span><\/span>Row, Row, Row Your Boat<\/span><\/em>, and <\/span><\/span>Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star<\/span><\/em> to make a dvd worth letting your young child see. <\/span>
